Club rides generally start at 09:00am although depending on weather/distance they may start earlier (8:00am) or later (10-10:30). We ride in most weathers but rides are occasionally cancelled if the weather is particularly bad. Our meeting point is outside Paperback (formerly Munsons), 73 St Mary’s Road, Ealing W5 5RG.

We have 4 rides every Sunday ranging from Black (very quick) to Red, Blue and Green (quite slow). On the first Sunday of the month we also have a Women’s only ride

Our rides are open to all members of Club. With prior agreement we do permit guest riders to join Club Rides - although we prefer non members to try Red before Black.

The route for the Club Run varies from one week to the next, we go out of our way to try to keep the routes interesting, often exploring new lanes but always trying to avoid busy roads. Details are shared on the private members social media forum, or announced on the Club’s members only Strava Club.

The aim of the Club Run is to escape from the urban streets to discover the quiet country lanes in the surrounding counties. Some of our regular routes are shown in the Routes pages.

We also run rides on Saturday’s which are less formal, start later and usually finish later. They will include a coffee/lunch stop and are generally paced around green/blue.

Other, informal rides are often posted by a member of the club, for example on bank holidays or after work in the summer

Weekly Club Ride

  • Meets every Sunday at Munson’s Coffee shop for a 9am depart

  • These rides are guided by one or more experienced club route leaders

  • The goal of the ride is to induct members into the club, improve general group riding ability and road etiquette

  • We ride at the speed of the slowest rider – this means rides are suitable for all abilities

  • Rides operate on a no-drop policy – meaning that there will always be another rider with you to guide you back to base

Other Rides

  • Essentially these are self guided rides; the route leader is just responsible for posting the route, departure place/time and any planned stops. The "route leader" may not even ride the route.

  • There is no fixed time for meeting for these rides (though 8am on a Sunday and 10am on a Wednesday are common ride times)

  • You are expected to be able to navigate the course by yourself.

  • Riders are expected to organise themselves into groups of evenly matched or intentioned riders; this may happen before we depart or on the road

  • Once groups are formed, groups are notionally no-drop; this means waiting at the top of climbs, across busy junctions, for mechanicals, etc. However,...

  • If you're having a bad day or realise you're not in a well matched group, you should tell the other riders in your group and drop back to a following group

  • If there's no following group, this means you may finish a ride on your own. This is unlikely if we have a lot of riders and abilities leaving at the same time and you'll usually find someone happy to ride with you. This is the key distinction between the Club ride and other rides.

Further details about expectations of riders can be found under the Club’s Rules and Etiquette guide.
